Abstract

Characters of stomata of eigth species of PodocaJl'us L. were comparatively analyzed. General outline of SlOmata, thickness of stomatal ledges, epidermical walls and common walls of guard cells, and presence and types of polar rods, T-pieces 01' V-pieces of guard cells varie al the specific leve!. Histochemistry of colored areas of lhe guard cells showed Ihat their presence are duc to cutine and Iignine impregnation of cellulosic cell walls. The same chemical composition have the polar rods and polar pieces.
