ETHNOBOTANY OF THE PTERIFOPHYTES FROM THE HIGH GRASSLANDS OF SANTA VICTORIA (SALTA, ARGENTINA)

Abstract

This paper constitutes an ethnobotanical study of lhe ferns and allied plants w hich are g row ing in the h ig h g rassla nds o f Sa n ta Victo ria in the Pro v ince of S alta, A rge ntina. A Iso, it is an up to date of the local pteridophytic flora. These grasslands are an in te r e st i n g ty p e o f ve g e ta t io n be c a u se t h e m ajo r ity o f th e n a t i v e h u m a n c o m m un it ie s a re living there. From 45 mentioned Pteridophytes, 27 taxa show an ethnobotanical value as medicional, ornamental and poisonous plants for the local cattle. Under each taxon, their utilities, using ways, vernacular names and additional bibliography are given.
