Abstract

Miocene-Pliocene volcanism of San Luis Province is chiefly represented by domes which have extruded through the metamorphic basement. They are conic-shaped  truncated conic-shaped, steep-sided bodies, sometimes with onion-Jike structure, their plan design being circular or oval, with concentric fractures. Rocks are porphyritic dacites, trachytes, latites, anor inside calderas. They are here classified as extrusive, mostly plug-domes and rarely quartz and biotite. Domes have developed along country rock fractures  or inside calderas. They are here classif'ed as extrusive, mostly plug-domes and endogenous cumulo-domes.
