Abstract

This is lhe first stlldy of the adlllt stomata of Suaeda divaricata Moq.- Tand. (Chenopodiaceae) a halophyte growing in Argentina, and of their ontogeny. These adlllt stomata are actinocylic, anisocytic and paracytic, transverse and sllnken respect to the adjacent epidermis which presents a polygonal cell pattern. The stomatogenesis found are either perigenous, for the lhree indicated adlllt types, ór mesoperigenous for the paracytic stomata, which is the most frequent type observed in the species.
